At the invitation of the Council of Europe, the representatives of the National Center for the Recognition and Equivalence of Diplomas (CNRED) and of the higher education institutions in Romania participated today, 29th of March, in an information and training session dedicated to qualifications in Ukraine within the project European Qualifications Passport for Refugees – EQPR, along with other National Recognition Centers and universities in Europe, the USA and Australia.

Romania, through the National Center for Recognition and Equivalence of Diplomas (ENIC-NARIC Center), became a member of the EQPR project together with Armenia, Bosnia and Herzegovina, Canada, Croatia, France, Germany, Greece, Italy, the Kingdom of the Netherlands, Norway , Serbia and the United Kingdom of Great Britain and Northern Ireland. The project was launched in 2017 to facilitate the integration of refugees, is carried out by the Council of Europe and also has the support of the UN Refugee Agency.

European Qualifications Passport for Refugees

The European Qualifications Passport for Refugees provides information on academic training, professional experience and language skills. This information may be relevant if the refugee wants to get a job, take an internship, a qualification course or enroll in college. This information is accepted in any European country.

What is it?

The document is issued following an evaluation process by specialists from the partner states in the EQPR project which is based on the documents held by the refugee and an interview and does not represent an official act of recognition of studies.

Who is it for?

The European Refugee Qualification Passport is issued to refugees who have completed their studies, starting with the upper cycle of high school, for whom there are not enough documents or cannot be proved with documents issued by educational institutions.

What is not?

  • a certificate / decision of recognition of studies
  • does not replace identity or study documents
  • does not guarantee the enrollment to studies or the employment.

Period of validity

The European Refugee Qualification Passport is valid for 5 years from the date of issue.
