Seminar: White Paper – Assessment Protocol for Alternative Admission Procedures for Refugees Without Study Documents

The National Center for Recognition and Equivalence of Diplomas organized, on November 21st, an online seminar to present the White Paper – Assessment Protocol for Alternative Admission Procedures for Refugees with Insufficiently Documented Qualifications, developed within the EQUAL project (European Qualifications – Refugees and Recognition), no. 101101707, funded by the Erasmus+ program, action 3.

The event brought together representatives of higher education institutions in Romania and project partners, facilitating the exchange of information regarding the Protocol for alternative evaluation procedures and its stages: providing information, collecting information, identifying qualifications, evaluation criteria, skills assessment, and professional development plan.

The discussions during the seminar helped clarify the use of tools that can be applied in the evaluation of insufficiently documented qualifications of refugees. On this occasion, university representatives shared their own experiences and emphasized the importance of constant collaboration with ENIC-NARIC Centers and the adoption of best practices at the European level to ensure equitable access to education for refugees.

From the above perspective, the seminar reiterated the importance of promoting the social and educational inclusion of refugees by strengthening cooperation between authorities and universities.

The EQUAL project, which builds on the experiences of previous projects – Toolkit, REACT, and ARENA, was initiated by the ENIC-NARIC Center Norway to support ENIC-NARIC recognition centers in Romania, Lithuania, and Poland in implementing Article VII of the Lisbon Recognition Convention, which provides for the admission to studies of refugees in cases where they have partially documented or undocumented qualifications.
